GOLF
Golf safaris in Africa are on the rise and offer the well-off traveller a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Enjoy all the challenges and rewards of golfing under a blue African sky. The scenery is fantastic; the course facilities are first-class, and accommodation is easy to arrange. But the success of our African golf safaris lies in our ability to combine a first-class golfing experience with what Africa is most famous for: big game safaris. Many of our recommended courses are located close to national parks and game reserves. Malaria-free, Big 5 safaris are also available and are ideal for families – golfers or not!
South Africa hosts several of the world’s finest golf and resorts, as does Mauritius. Stunning links and parkland courses, often the centre piece of exclusive hotel resorts, are situated in South Africa’s top destinations such as Sun City, Kruger National Park, Cape Town, along the Garden Route and some of Mauritius’ most scenic stretches of coastline and n sub-tropical KwaZulu-Natal where the greens reach down to the Indian Ocean.
There are also superb golfing experiences to be had in Kenya and the Seychelles, and our golfing itineraries can easily be tailored to include any other destination on the continent.

HORSEBACK RIDING
Horseback riding is without a doubt one of the most exciting and adventuresome ways of visiting Africa: imagine yourself riding along on horseback while taking in the scene of great herds of elephant, buffalo, wildebeest and antelope as they move across the plains, galloping behind herds of zebra in Masai country or cantering alongside a journey of giraffes in search of a delicious Acacia treat!
Horse lovers can enjoy half-day or full-day horse safaris in Kenya and, if you’re up for days in the saddle, multi-day luxury mobile horse safaris in Kenya and Botswana. The companies that we recommend train their horses, which are used to riders of different experience levels, to handle a variety of situations, which can be quite different depending on the terrain and the wildlife.
A typical day on one of the multi-day horse safaris consists of anywhere from four to seven hours in the saddle, covering a distance between 15 – 30 miles a day depending on the terrain and animal sightings. Riders have the possibility of going on game drives, bush walks and night game drives during their mobile safari as well as to add a stay at a luxury lodge before or after the riding safari.
For beginner and novice riders, we recommend either half or full-day rides such as the ones offered in Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, Hermanus or the Garden Route in South Africa.
