From South Luangwa to Lake Malawi

Day 1: Lilongwe

Upon arrival at the Lilongwe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide. After greetings we will transfer you to Kumbali Country Lodge in Lilongwe for a night.
Kumbali Country Lodge is a private lodge, situated on a 650 hectare forest reserve and dairy farm land. Only 10 minutes from the capital city, Lilongwe, along a quiet traffic-free road. The accommodation is stylish, relaxed and informal; it is much more than just another Lilongwe hotel.

Day 2 – 4: South Luangwa

After a night at Kumbali country Lodge, it is now time to head to South Luangwa National Park. You will be transferred by road to Flat Dogs Camp where you will stay for 3 nights. Activities include morning and night game drive, walking safaris.
Hailed by some as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, South Luangwa is one of Zambia’s most important destinations. This park, which spans just over 9.000 square kilometres, is centred around the Luangwa River and is home to one of Africa’s largest concentrations of wildlife. Here, visitors can spot lion, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and thornicroft. The park also hosts the biggest population of elephants in the whole country, and numerous cheetah roam the park. The Luangwa River is populated by hippos and crocodiles. South Luangwa is mostly dry land and woodland, watered by the meandering Luangwa River and its many oxbow lakes. The dominant tree is the mopane, but stately baobabs also dot the landscape here and there.

Day 5 – 7: Cape Maclear

After these few days tracking the incredible Zambian wildlife, it is time to head back to Malawi, to Cape Maclear. You will be accommodated at Annie’s Lodge for 3 nights.
Situated in Cape Maclear, Annie’s Lodge is an apart hotel with a restaurant, lounge and also has an outdoor pool free self – parking is free. All the 11 apartments provide conveniences like refrigerators and coffee makers, plus WiFi and flat-screen TVs. Room service and desks are among the other amenities available to guests. Lake Malawi National Park is located at the southern end of Lake Malawi, it’s the only national park in Malawi that was created to protect fish and aquatic habitats. The property is of global importance for biodiversity conservation due to the huge diversity of fish found there. The reserve is home to many hundreds of cichlid fish, nearly all of which are endemic to Lake Malawi. Cape Maclear is a peninsula that falls within the boundaries of the park, from which you can reach the Bays of Mumbo and Dowme and visit their small islands. Here you can enjoy many activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, bird watching and fishing. For those who prefer to relax and rest, there are the beautiful white sand beaches or a boating trips.

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast you will be transferred to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight back home.
