Day 1 – 2: Livingstone

On arrival at the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone, you will be met by the hotel representative and transferred to the lodge. Spend 2 nights at Stanley Safari Lodge in a standard cottage with en suite bathroom on a full board basis including local brand drinks, laundry, a guided Tour of Falls (excluding entry fees) and a village & museum tour.
Bordering the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, Stanley Safari Lodge is situated on a hill with a view of the spray from the Victoria Falls in the distance. The six cottages and four suites have been individually designed and decorated with local materials. The suites have a plunge pool and three of them have a fireplace. One cottage and two suites are closed (the closed suites are air-conditioned), the rest of the accommodation is completely open fronted. All have en suite bathroom with shower and toilet, private garden and dining area. The main house with its mahogany furniture and beautiful tableware will take you back to the Africa of the 1920’s. Relax in the reading room or just chill out and enjoy the view from a comfy chair in the large lounge. Evenings can be spent sampling wine from the lodge’s cellar or unwinding by the hearth, with the matchless African skies providing an unforgettable backdrop. The lodge’s French style cuisine maybe enjoyed in the dining room, at a romantic candlelit table for two in the wine cellar, under the stars on the lawn or in the boma. In the beautifully kept grounds there is a swimming pool which is most welcome during the hot summer months.

Set in an area of pristine wilderness, Kaingu Safari Lodge offers a magnificent safari experience in the heart of the African bush. Discovering the owner-run lodge with its comfortable accommodation blending into nature is something unexpected in this remote area. The lodge was built with a lot of patience, good taste and an extraordinary sense for detail. It offers a unique stay for traveler’s wishing to get closer to the unspoiled wilderness of the ‘real’ Africa, experience the warm and welcoming people of Zambia and enjoy wildlife and scenery undisturbed. The lodge is situated in the Namwala Game Management Area (GMA) on a spectacular and remote stretch of the Kafue River, approximately 400 kilometres north of the majestic Victoria Falls. Kasaka River Lodge is a 20 bed luxury tented camp offering an authentic and memorable safari experience. Nestled on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Chiawa Game Management area it is set in a natural bush environment with each chalet secluded amongst the native flora, only 4 kilometres by road from the Lower Zambezi National Park. This is the only stretch on the 2,700 kilometre course of the Zambezi River where one finds National Parks on both banks of the river – the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia and the famed Mana Pools World Heritage Site in Zimbabwe. The river extends the length of the property and there are breathtaking views over the water with sightings of buffalo, elephant, hippo and crocodile. The philosophy of combining a tranquil, off the beaten track destination for guests with support of the local environment, culture and natural resources is our dream. Game viewing is offered in a variety of forms, game drives designed to completely immerse you in the amazing natural wonders of wild Africa; a leisurely canoe safari; a river safari navigating the islands and main channels of the mighty Zambezi; or the thrill of a walking safari.

The six chalets with bamboo woven walls and thatch roofs offer a rustic luxury opening up to magnificent views of the river as well as open air en-suite bathrooms. Nkwali offers understated elegance, seclusion and superb service. Many places claim to be “among the remaining wilderness areas” or “one of the last wildlife sanctuaries”; South Luangwa National Park lives up to both and more. The South Luangwa Park is 9050 sq. kilometre; with the river, its tributaries and the riverine strips being the focus of the wildlife viewing. There are diverse habitats, from huge ox bow lagoons of varying stages of maturity, woodlands, ebony groves, grassland and thickets, that host a great variety of wildlife.
