Day 1-2: Matobo National Park

You will be met on arrival at Bulawayo Airport and transferred immediately to the Matobo National Park. This transfer takes approximately 40 minutes.The Matopos or Matobo National Park became a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in 2003. It is situated among the magnificent Matobo Hills from which it takes its name. The area exhibits a profusion of distinctive rock formations rising above the granite shield that covers much of Zimbabwe.
Spend two nights at Camp Amalinda in a standard room on a full board basis including game viewing activities, a visit to Rhodes Grave and local brand drinks. The granite domes and castle kopjes of the Matobo Hills are among the most majestic rock sceneries in the world. Nestled in this unique range of hills is Camp Amalinda. Tucked away into an ancient bushman’s shelter, Camp Amalinda’s charm will leave an indelible impression on every visitor, its spirituality almost tangible. It is here that the hopes, trials and tribulations of the San Bushmen are recorded in the ancient rock art. Activities include rhino tracking, drives through the park and short walks to the top of the “dwala” where Rhodes chose his place of rest. Activities include also guided visits to the San Bushmen paintings and cultural visits to experience the “real” African homesteads of the Matabele tribe, an orphanage, a primary school and a rural clinic.

Day 3-4: Hwange National Park

Depart the Matopas for Bomani Tented Camp in the Hwange National Park. This journey takes approximate 3 hours and 30 minutes. Situated inside the Ngamo Forest area, Bomani is located within our 5,000-acre remote private reserve: only 1.5 kilometres away from Ngamo’s gate to Hwange National Park. The area was once an ancient fossil lake, which over time became submerged by Kalahari sands from the west. Today, the expansive plains are dotted with natural water pans and Ilala palms; offering a peaceful sanctuary to the countless herds of wildlife that call the area home. The main lodge overlooks Bomani pan and comprises of an open dining room, bar area and lounge, built on a spectacular viewing platform. You can enjoy your breakfast whilst watching zebra and wildebeest quietly graze, or sip a sundowner as giraffe and elephant soak up the day’s final rays. During the chilly winter evenings, our open fireplaces keep the room warm and cozy.
Activities include game drive and walking safaris.

Day 5-6: Victoria Falls

Depart Hwange for Victoria Falls. This journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Spend the nights at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 7-8: Kariba

Scheduled road transfer to Victoria Falls Airport. This transfer takes approximately 25 minutes. Charter flight from Victoria Falls Airport to Fothergill Island in Kariba. The flying time will be approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. Upon arrival at Fothergill Island, you will be met by the staff from Changa Safari Camp who will assist you to the boat mooring point. Transfer by boat to Changa which takes approximately 15 minutes. The Camp is located in the famed Matusadona National Park and it enjoys a private concession area within the park and boasts nearly 4,5 kilometres of Lakeshore frontage. The East African styled luxury tents are private and exclusive with panoramic views of the rugged Matusadona Mountains. Changa Safari Camp offers a variety of activities focusing on a true wilderness and wildlife experience which including walking, game drives and fishing. The professional guides have a thorough knowledge of the area and, accompanied by them, you can experience Matusadona ‘at its best’.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, transfer by boat to Fothergill Island to connect with the charter light aircraft transfer Victoria Falls Airport where you will connect onto your international flight back home or to your next destination.
